Honestly, I don’t know how to start this post. We love Xiao Long Bao (or Soup Dumplings). When Din Tai Fung opened in our country, we tried it because of the hype. And we’ve been loving Xiao Long Bao ever since.
On one of our Taiwan trips before, we decided to try and check out other XLB places that are not Din Tai Fung (DTF started in Taiwan, I think).
From the moment our plane lands, the first thing we look for in a 711 is their XLB. (Spoiler: It’s actually decent. Especially when you eat it after a 2-hour red-eye flight)
Some friends recommended Hang Zhou to us. We tried it a couple of years back, and we’ve been going back to it whenever we travel back to Taiwan.
The location is good. It’s near Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. So It can be a quick side trip when you’re sightseeing. The place, I think, is not so known to tourists. Every time we visit the place, they always have open tables and there’s no line.
It’s a little far from the shopping district. Which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you handle crowds
Just make sure to take note of the operating hours and make sure there’s no holiday when you visit.
